Sony Oled A1

¿Dónde vas? Manzanas traigo. Ni interpolación, ni BFI, ni efecto telenovela ni pierde brillo. La LG no lo tiene y la Philips y parece que la Sony, si. Mira que es fácil, pues por no reconocer una cosa...manzanas traigo.

Just looking at the snow clearly in I Am Setsuna is fantastic. I can not commend Sony enough for what they have done, because not only is the motion THIS GOOD it has all the benefits of looking so amazing thanks to OLEDs infinite blacks and fantastic color reproduction. Playing games with really smooth textures like Kingdom Hearts look like they're popping off the screen it just looks sooooo good (kingdom hearts fmv run at 30 fps and gameplay is 60 just in case you see a jerky difference​ with video and gameplay).

Here is a faster side scroller to really stress the motion and it handles it like a champ (better than my VT Plasmas) honest to God.

The smoothness setting is probably frame interpolation, which would increase input lag substantially.

The clearness setting at High value is black frame insertion, which is very computationally inexpensive - probably does not add any input lag.

It lowers image persistence and greatly reduces motion blur - all without the lag and artifacts of motion interpolation.

Actually, the Clarity setting under Motionflow. It is not frame interpolation and should not have any artifacts or increased input lag

The motion handling in the low clarity setting bests all the LG units I've owned

I took smoothness to "min" and activated the "low" clearness in custom and I'm leaving it on.. its excellent in my opinion.. very subtle, not near soap opera.. no flicker.. I know the flicker issue because the G6 had it early last year before firmware fixes.

It's solid! Good looking on this one guys.. very nice!!!

Edit: Oh man.. the LG has nothing like this.. this low clarity is the differentiator from the LG sets. Low doesn't produces the lower brightness.

Anyone looking for an OLED 55" and 65" and not buying a A1E is wasting their money...

This pisses on LG.. sorry my LG brethren.. I tried...

5499 euros, como Sony España la suba a 6000 me da que va a haber un montón de tiendas que la importen de Alemania y listo.

Si en España la ponen a 5990€, hecho que parece confirmar la web oficial, creo que voy a hacer llegar un email en danés a Margrethe Vestager...

En Alto si, porque activa el BFI (y además pierde brillo). Pero eso ya lo sabíamos desde hace bastante. La clave parece estar en el Bajo.

Lo puse hace unos posts más atrás. Y hasta ese chico dice que no es necesario el BFI (Alto).

A ver, si es que es lo de siempre...un micro de un móvil no va a captar el sonido real de una tele. Esta tele merece ser oída en vivo, no a través de una castaña de móvil que no recoge ni los graves. ¡Y encima está en mono! (me suena solo por el central de mi 5.1).

Precisamente algo que me dijo mi colega es que la tele, gracias a su innovador sistema de sonido, tiene una espacialización brutal, el izquierdo y el derecho se notan un huevo, usando una demo de Sony de un pajarito que se mueve de un lado a otro. Y unos graves muy potentes para ser una tele, probablemente tenga el mejor sonido que una tele pueda tener.

•Never used a PC CRT but a regular CRT would be a 10 for the motion.
•LG OLED - 3/10 below average for the 2016 models (terrible judder and loss of all detail on ANY motion, including the fact that post motion processing techniques didn't help it much and couldn't even be activated in game mode) from seeing the 2017 LG OLEDS in store I have to say it is improved but not much, no gaming motion settings either.
•A1E- 8/10 (With the right settings it matches plasma but you do sacrifice some brightness but after several minutes of playing you wont even notice the loss in brightness except on like camera shots directly at the sun or wide open bright vistas and you still get incredible highlights in dark settings)...Without motionflow or Clearness enabled the motion processing is probably around a 6/10 --> Añado, posiblemente con Clear en Mínimo (vuelvo a recalcarlo: mejora el movimiento, no hay SOE, flicker, ni pérdida de brillo ni interpola) probablemente llegara al 7/10 en la escala de este chico.
•VT60-8.5/10 (gets an extra .5 for not relying on settings, the motion is superb with any settings)
•Z9D- 6-7/10 (definitely above average for LCDs but hard to pinpoint by how much. Flickering is a problem for me at least on this set with higher Clearness settings but not on the A1E...Honestly though it's hard to see much of an improvement in motion clarity between any of the Clearness settings on the Z9D so a Clearness of 1 should be sufficient) SIDE NOTE- I already packed up my Z9D and am getting rid of it, no point in keeping it since I won't be using it anymore so I can't really mess with the setting again like somebody was requesting.

Sin el BFI y sin ni siquiera el Clear en Min (vuelvo a recalcarlo: mejora el movimiento, no hay SOE, flicker, ni pérdida de brillo ni interpola), sigue dándole el doble de puntuación que la LG. Otro más que miente, fijo

Set it up this evening. I'm replacing my 52" XBRHX909.

All I can say is I've never seen anything like it. I spent all evening doing the initial setup and am exhausted. I will post more images tomorrow. Here's a little teaser.

I can confirm the A1 is effortlessly brighter than any OLED TV I reviewed in 2016, including LG’s top-end Signature G6

Better still, this OLED excels at juggling light and dark. The taxi scenes are great at demonstrating this: the dark detail of the cab interior (and Deadpool's mask) is kept intact, despite the brightness outside the window.

The Sony A1 is a magnificent TV. It’s a shame that it's taken so long for Sony to put out a 4K OLED TV – but the timing is right, because OLED tech has really matured. Factor in Sony's own expertise in colour and motion, as well as its willingness to experiment with radical sound systems, and what you have is something of a landmark. This was my most anticipated TV of 2017, and I'm not disappointed.
