Overview
SUMIKO/PRO-JECT DEBUT II TRUNTABLE W/COLORED PLINTH & ORTOFON OM5 CARTRIDGE
The newest introductory table from Pro-Ject is really a killer deal! Pro-Ject has really created something special for under $300. The table includes a really quiet motor, decoupled from the plinth to reduce vibrations, an effective tonearm with silicone damped arm lift and a single run of high purity cooper from the headshell leads to the RCA ends. The Debut II also includes a pre-installed Ortofon OM-5 MM cartridge making this a complete table package. Everything is set-up at the factory making this table simple to set-up and get you spinning LPs within minutes.
Available in matte black for $279 or seven custom high-gloss colors for only $299. For less than three hundred bucks, you can get those old LPs out of the closet, attic or basement and start having fun with analog again or turn on a initiated audiophile by showing him/her the analog “truth”!
Michael Fremer took a listen to this budget table in this month’s Stereophile: “They know how to build turntables at the Pro-Ject factory. Although the Debut II is their [introductory] model, great care has been lavished on its component parts - most are made in house - and on the final set-up…if you prefer to proceed cautiously into analog without risking a lot of money, the Debut II will communicate the essence of analog as well as any. In some ways, no CD player, no matter how much you spend can compete.”
