Grabadora Sony DW-D22A: Problema y solución

Hace algún tiempo puse un mensaje pidiendo ayuda sobre esta grabadora de DVD. Ayer por fin solucioné mi problema, y quiero compartir la solución por si alguien está en el mismo caso.

Compré una grabadora Sony modelo DW-D22A (firmware BYS2) doble capa y el primer disgusto fue que me dio problemas desde el primer día: grababa solo a 1'5x en DVD-R, me convertia en posavasos la cuarta parte de los discos y en cuanto metía un DVD+R me daba un mensaje de error.

El segundo disgusto (y sorpresa) fue que esta grabadora no aparece en la página de Sony. No hay soporte, ni actualizaciones de firmware ni nada, porque ni siquiera está en sus listas de productos.

Por supuesto, la grabadora esta como maestro en su canal IDE y probé otras configuraciones, sin resultado.

Después de buscar tengo la siguiente información: Está grabadora parece ser un versión de la DRU-710A, aunque en una versión OEM sin soporte (no me pregunteis como es posible esto del soporte porque no lo sé; si alguien puede aclararmelo se lo agradeceré). Al mismo tiempo es igual que la Liteon SOWH-1633S.

Sabiendo esto, y sin nada que perder porque estaba dispuesto a tirar la grabadora a la basura, solo me quedaba probar a meter los firmwares de estos aparatos a ver si mejoraba.

Mi primer intento fue con el firmware de la Sony DRU-710a (versión BYX2, me parecio lógico, por ser al menos de la misma marca). Se actualizó sin problemas, pero el resultado no fue bueno. Los CD los grababa perfecto y rápido, pero no grababa ni un DVD-R. Detectaba un "incompatibilidad en el medio" y no comenzaba la grabación. Bueno, al menos no estropeaba el disco.

El segundo intendo fue con Liteon. Descargue el firmware BS41 de su página e intente la actualización, pero no pude porque me indicaba que no tenia ningún grabador Liteon que actualizar (en realidad, bastante lógico).

El tercer (y exitoso) intento fue utilizar ese mismo firmware BS41, pero utilizando el programa de carga de Codeguys (www.codeguys.rpc1.org). Me dejó elegir que grabadora quería actualizar y lo hizo sin problemas. Y lo que hice fue introducir el firmware BS41 estandar, sin cambiar ningún parámetro.

El resultado es PERFECTO. La grabadora es otra. Graba CD rápidamente. Graba DVD-R a 4x (a veces lo supera). Graba DVD-R. Ni un posavasos...

En fín, perdonar por el rollo, pero seguro que hay otros con la misma grabadora, y quiza alguien pueda aprovechar estos datos.

Lamentablemente también tengo la grabadora Sony DW-D22A, el firmware BS41 me sirvió para aumentar la velocidad, (cosa que antes sólo llegaba a 4 máx) sólo que al llegar al final de la grabación me da mensaje de error en cualquier velocidad. Lo más probable es que termine tirándola y comprar cualquier otra menos sony, ya no se que inventar para que funcione. Si a alguien se le ocurre que puede estar pasando agradeceré infinitamente.
