"Okay, I've seen the 42PX60 today at a retailer in Derby and my first impression, in one word - AWESOME!
This is coming from someone who's got a Panasonic 42PE50, which i've now had for 6 months, and i am (or was until I seen this new beauty) extremely satisfied with the picture quality of it.
I know in the past some ppl have mentioned colour banding to be an issue with the PE50/PV500 and while I've not found it much of a distraction of my 42PE50 --- I'll have to admit, the first thing that caught my eye about the picture quality on the 42PX60 was the colour depth, it just looked so much more vibrant compared to the PV500 which they had next to it.
I'm amazed someone above has said they found the pic quality of the PV500 to be better than the PX60... because from what I saw (having played around with the settings on PX60 and taken it out of dynamic), there was a remarkable difference in the picture quality -- especially watching Freeview -- on the PX60 than the PV500 they had nearby and being used to the PE50 we have at home, I could see instantly that this babe was in a different class.
Another thing I was looking out for , was how it handled motion - because one of the weaknesses of my 42PE50 (although we've got used to it now) is a hint of motion blur when watching football ... but having watched a clip or two of footy on the PX60 , on Sky Sports news --- i can say this without any doubt whatsoever , the motion on it was every bit as smooth as a CRT.. not a hint of blur.
To sum up - i really was stunned by the pic quality of the PX60 with High Def material, but the quality with SD was remarkably good !!! miles better than what I've got my Panasonic 42Pe50 (which itself is extremely good mind you, but its just amazing how much technonlogy can move on in just a year).
Well, as things stand.. once Sky HD is up and running next month, i'll take the PE50 upstairs... and look to buy a new HD plasma -- and the 42PX60 is top of my list right now... no exaggeration here - it is the BEST plasma i've ever seen."
