HDMI 1.2

Otra vez, muchos de los que estamos en este foro todavía no hemos comprado nada con HDMI o estamos pensando en hacerlo y resulta que ya hablan de la actualización del HDMI, su versión 1.2.

"The company in charge of licensing the High-Definition Multimedia Interface specification, HDMI Licensing LLC, has just made its latest revision to specification available. HDMI provides a single-cable digital interface for HDTVs and other electronics. Version 1.2 of the interface adds a number of features including support for One Bit Audio format like SuperAudio CD’s Direct Stream Digital.

The company also promises better support for current and future PCs with HDMI outputs by making HDMI Type A connectors available for PC sources and displays with full support for PC video formats. PC sources should also be able to use their native RGB color-space while retaining the option to support the YCbCrCE color-space. A modification to the electrical specification should also ensure compatibility of HDMI receivers with low voltage AC-couple transmitters (like the ones in integrated graphics chips).

HDMI Licensing LLC claims these changes will increase HDMI’s appeal for use in the consumer electronics and computer industries. Currently more than 250 vendors have adopted the standard, releasing close to 500 compliant products. Products implementing the latest 1.2 specifications will be fully backwards compatible with earlier HDMI products too."
