Paramount Home Entertainment will release Star Trek: The Original Motion Picture Collection on US Blu-ray Disc on 12th May 2009. The six films will be presented in their original theatrical versions only, with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan having been particularly scrubbed up for its HD debut in a manner, according to TrekMovie, similar to that of Paramount's recent The Godfather release. The vast majority of extras from the SD two-disc releases of the films will be present, with the exception of the commentary and three featurettes from the Director's Cut of Star Trek: The Motion Picture and the original text commentaries for all six films, although the latter seem to have been replaced with the "Library Computer" option, which will present you with trivia at any point in the film you wish.
In addition to the films, there's a seventh disc included called The Captain's Table. This will be a 70 minute round-table chat presented by Whoopi Goldberg in which William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes will talk "candidly" about their time on Star Trek. Quite what the latter two are doing on a set devoted to The Original Series is open to debate, but there you go.
2º Pack (Películas 2-3-4):
In addition, on the same day Star Trek: The Motion Picture Trilogy will also be released on both DVD and Blu-ray Disc. This will contain the second, third and fourth films, but won't include all the extras in the six-movie set. I've asterixed those in the list above which will appear on this set, but basically any extras which featured on the old two-disc releases are out, with only the new BD stuff included. The BD version of this set will retail at $48.99, the DVD $28.99. The DVD set will see the films presented in anamorphic widescreen with English DD5.1 EX, French DD2.0 Surround, Portuguese and Spanish Mono, and English, French, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles.
Y las 4 películas que faltan por salir, según comentan, lo harán en este mismo año...
The Digital Bits has also heard report that a set featuring the four Next Generation movies is also in the works for later in the year. Region Coding for both TOS movie sets is unconfirmed at the moment, but this is Paramount, so the likelihood of them being all regions is very high.
