Dicen que sus obras apelan a las emociones más íntimas. Videojuegos que trascienden lo púramente divertido y llegan más allá, hasta tocar la fibra sensible del jugón. Quizá es por la ternura que despiertan, por los mundos oníricos que suele representar o directamente por que están diseñados para jugar con nuestras emociones.
No lo se, lo único que tengo claro es que Fumito Ueda y su ‘The Last Guardian’ prometen una barbaridad.
Y ha sido en el marco del TGS 2009 cuando el genio japonés ha decidido dar un paso más y contarnos algo sobre Torico, esa especie de grifo medio gato medio dragón que ayudará al protagonista en su aventura. No tiene desperdicio, creedme.

“Cuando decidimos poner a un animal así queríamos hacerlo muy atractivo y hasta “mono”, “tierno”. Así que creamos este diseño para que funcionara con los parámetros anteriores y, además, encajara en el diseño del juego.”

“Así es cómo decidimos el tamaño, las cualidades del personaje y sus habilidades físicas… era cuestión de hacerlo encajar en el diseño general del juego:”

“Acabamos teniendo un animal muy cercano al estilo del gato, pero también manejamos otras opciones… tuvimos una especie de animal que se acercaba al perro e incluso una con fuerte retirada a un camello.”

“El jugador no podrá controlar a Toriko de manera directa, en cambio, lo que sí podrás hacer es usar objetos o comida para que el animal haga lo necesario. Podremos lanzarlos, por ejemplo, a lugares a los que no llegaríamos en circunstancias normales.”

Uno de los juegos más prometedores del panorama actual, una especie de poesía en movimiento que intentará llegar a las mismas cotas de excelencia que alcanzó, en su día, ‘Shadow of the Colossus’. ¿Alguien duda de que lo consiga?.
