Please check out my thread here on improving 3D quality on playback of MvA here
I will also copy and paste the guide from the post to here
This is a guide that will show how to get the best (IMO) 3D picture quality out of the current available title MvA.
Please follow the steps in order.
Make sure your device firmware versions are up to date
a. The PN50C7000 current FW is 1017 and info can be found here (Currently the TV cannot update its FW via the Internet at this current moment)
b. The BD-C6900 current FW is 1009 (The Player can update its FW via the Internet at this time)
*CAUTION, DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH WITH ENTERING YOUR DEVICES SERVICE MENU, WE AT THIS FORUM ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP YOUR DISPLAY IN DOING THESE STEPS INCORRECTLY, THESE STEPS ARE OPTIONAL, THEY ONLY EXPAND THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE PDP C7000 SERIES*
a. The following link is to a guide to enable the features of the 8000 series PDP on the 7000 series, the link is found here.
b. Two things that are not noted in the guide.
ONE: When you select "Factory Reset" you also reset the counter on the "Display Hours" back to zero, if you don't care about that happening, then proceed, if you do care, then IMO I do not believe it is necessary to perform that step.
TWO: After changing the "Display" to the "PC8000" and/or after hitting "Factory Reset" it changes the "Front Color" option to "NONE", this causes the Display to show a message every time you turn the Display on, to avoid this, remember to change the "Front Color" option to "T-C-Black".
Go to the HDMI port on the source list where your BDP is connected.
Go in to you Displays Menu, scroll down to "Settings" and then select the "General Tab" and set the "BD Wise" option to "ON"
a. I understand a lot of you are against this feature because it messes with your calibration settings, here is the thing, calibration for 3D is not the same as it is for 2D, so while your current calibration may look excellent for 2D sources, it may degrade the quality of 3D that your display could be outputting, and IMO "BD Wise" does a pretty good job at setting up the display for optimal 3D BR performance, however this step is completely optional, I do encourage experimenting though.
Go back in to the main part of the Display Menu and scroll to "Picture"
a. Select the "3D" tab, make sure "3D Auto View" is set to "Off" (This is a hit and miss option, you may want to experiment with it, in the beginning this option caused issues with a large increase in ghosting and other faults in 3D video quality, although after the recent FW updates these issues have gone away for me, so you can experiment with this setting turned on or off. I keep this option off.)
b.Select the "Picture Options" Tab, scroll to "Size", then select "Screen Fit" (I recommend this setting for all your sources and not just Blu-Ray.)
Now go to your Blu-Ray players setting menu, stay in the "Display" section.
a. Click on the "3D" tab, ensure the "TV Screen Size" option is set correctly for your display.
b. In the "TV Aspect" tab, have it set to "16:9 Wide"
c. In the "Resolution" tab, set it to "Auto"
d. In "Movie Frame (24Fs)" set it to "On"
e. *ONLY DO THIS STEP IF YOU FOLLOWED STEP 2 OF THE MAIN LIST* Go to your TV's Display Menu, stay in the "Picture" Column, scroll down to "Picture Options", the "Film Mode", select "Cinema Smooth"
f. Go back to your BDP menu (should still be on the screen) and go to "BD Wise" set it to on, it will also change your "Resolution automatically to "BD Wise"
Exit to the main page for the BDP
Now that all of that has been configured, we can now test the quality of the 3D, please listen
THE BEST QUALITY 3D ON THE BR DISK ITSELF IS NOT THE MOVIE, BUT A SHORT FILM ON THE DISK
So please to see the best quality of the 3D on the disk do the following.
Insert the Disk
Wait for it to load
Make sure your 3D glasses are turned ON
Select your language
Scroll and select "Extras"
Select "B.O.B.'S BIG BREAK"
Enjoy
If you find that the guide improved playback quality please let me know, however if it did the opposite and made it worse, also let me know. Thanks.
